New owner here, posting my thanks.

My wife and I were taken in by the "too good to be true" offer from Best Travel Destinations; a scam originating in the public deed scraping process in the prepay for RCI holiday weeks variety (but you're paying them for advertising, hmmm...). I found a note on the HGVC website that was enough to get me to attempt cancellation, but a variety of factors had me sign more papers allowing the scam to continue. A few days later I found TUG, with overwhelming evidence, documentation, and personal experience, and we disputed the CC charge the next day. The dispute resolved in our favor, and so it's the least we could do to spend $30 of the >$2k we saved by following your advice here on a three year membership.

While it's true our retail purchase of HGVC may not have made the most financial sense, we've already got two all-time vacations (4 days across from Universal Studios and a long weekend in Myrtle Beach) out of the process for our family with boys 10 and 14. We've already got a bit smarter, and look forward to learning a lot more from you and with you in the years to come.

1) That there are a lot of scams out there aimed at TS owners,
2) You will probably be getting contacted frequently by them, and
3) How to identify a scam regardless of their name.
