My wife and I went to a presentation while staying at the Grand Waikikian with my parents last week. We got 60k HH points for attending. I've been lurking the forums for a few weeks learning as much as I can about HGVC. Our sales rep was nice, we told her we were only interested in Vegas after seeing how cheap the maintenance fees are from this site. We were running short on time and I asked her to bring the closing sales rep in. The first deal for a 1 bedroom was $36,990 for gold season Elara for 5440 annual points with a maintenance fee of $1363. The closing rep kept bringing out lower ones. Our final offer was for Elara studio gold at 2560 points for $22,990. My wife says I became enflamed with passion. I said, "I wanted to purchase something from you today because I like the product, but I cannot justify buying something from you at a 900% markup compared to what I have seen on the resale market." The closing sales rep didn't say anything, he just stood up and walked away. The rep who was with us for the whole presentation started to get teary-eyed and asked us what she did wrong. I told her that she didn't do anything wrong I just had no idea how much they were charging to buy directly from Hilton. I'm glad I didn't get anything and am now looking for a resale property. Thanks to everyone here.
I also went into the meeting knowing what my parents paid for their deed 15 years ago, they paid $62,000 for a 2 bedroom platinum season for 20100 points with a maintenance fee of $2300 a year. That didn't help with seeing the $6.79 per point on the initial offer. Knowing my dad paid $3.08 was another the reason I was stunned by the offers we got.
