Trying to understand how I lost an exchange that I've looked constantly for! I had a 2 bedroom Surf club exchange today for Spring Break week. Got all the way to the payment page and I kept getting an error.. it said call your home resort. I called II and they said nothing is wrong with my deposit and they are sorry. So incredibly disappointed. I was on cloud 9. How does that happen? Could more than just me have that week on hold and someone beat me to the payment page? I just don't understand. It's never happened before.

I've had this happen to me twice.
The last time, I left the computer just long enough to get my credit card information (30 seconds), and came back to complete the transaction.
the unit I was exchanging into was no longer available.
We are told that when someone deposits a unit, it goes into the general availability pool for a few minutes, and then gets snatched up for use in the nightly match process for on-going requests. Even though it was in your "cart", it still gets snatched, unless you happen to complete the transaction first.
Of course, it could've been that more than one person was vying for the exchange at the same time, and the other one just happened to beat you to the final click.
Quite frustrating, huh?
One of I.I.'s "few" glitches...

I suspect that it was due to the unit being swept for the nightly OGS match process. I don't know if it would be possible for two people to put a unit on hold for 18 minutes at the same time. It seems that the sweep for the overnight process can override an 18 minute hold.

It is also possible that a rep pulled the unit from the hold and fulfilled an exchange for someone on the phone.
