Swapping to Marriott Timber Lodge and Grand Residence Club

I'm looking at buying a Marriott week at Grand Chateau. I'm interested in how difficult it would be to get access to units in the summer in Tahoe - Timber Lodge or Grand Residence Club.
How does availability look right now for the summer? Ideally I would create the lockoff and get 2 weeks in the summer at these units. Possible?

You would have to deposit your weeks to interval and exchange.
Not much inventory just sitting in II for the summer- some studios in August right now.
You would want to place a request ideally 12-13 months in advance.

Using my strongest trader (1 BR platinum Harbour Lake) shows a little bit of availability in June/July next year, all 1 BRs and studio. Your GC will likely trade as well as if not better than mine.

I agree with @Pamplemousse. I see 5 late August units at the TL. 2 are 1 BR and 1 is a 2 BR. There are 18 units showing for September (a great time to be up there). Jumping forward, I see seven unit in June 2023.

But the "best practices" for reserving during the summer would be to put in a request a year or so in advance. When we do a manual search, we are looking at the "left-overs" after the on-going requests are satisfied.

I'm been to the Timberlodge 6 times in the past 12 years. Twice in May (AC's), three times in June and Once in July. Of my four exchanges, 3 of them involved a unit size upgrade (e.g., depositing a 1 BR and exchanging into a 2 BR). All exchanges were accomplished using a home resort Desert Springs Villas (Palm Desert).

So, if you put in a request a year in advance AND manually check, I would say that you have a very high likelihood of exchanging into the TL. I've never tried exchanging into the Grand Residence. IIRC, they don't have washer and dryers in the unit.
