I have a trade in to Swallowtail for mid-August. I haven't seen any recent info on beach access. I realize it's not on the beach, but I'm looking to find out if it's possible to access the beach somewhere else (by car).

Most of the time we're not really early risers, maybe leaving for the beach around 11-12 AM. I'm a bit worried that parking by beach access points (if there is any) would be filled up by then.

Anyone have any scoop?

We're owners and just came back from a wonderful two week trip to Hilton head. The Sea Pines Beach Club is maybe a mile or less from Swallowtail. It is an easy bike ride and you can also take the trolley that stops at the shopping center across the street from Swallowtail.

If you are hauling a bunch of stuff and want to drive, there is a parking lot at the Beach Club. It is newly re-designed and has quite a bit of parking available. Still, by 11 or 12, you may have trouble. Be sure to go on Saturday because that is generally check in/out day on the island and the beach will be the least crowded.

We took our dog this year so stayed at a villa near the beach. I was there every morning between 8 and 10 and the parking lot was still pretty empty by the time I was leaving at 10am.

Or you could easily ride bikes to the beach. We stayed in Swallowtail on an AC last year and it's an easy bike ride....

Tower Beach Access

Another great beach to check out while at Swallowtail is Tower Beach in Sea Pines. As owners at Swallowtail, we have access to the parking area at Tower Beach,as long as we have our parking pass displayed in the car. I assume that those trading into Swallowtail would have access as well. There is no off street parking for Tower Beach and the lot is restricted to owners only. Its worth a try, as it is a perfect beach, quite uncrowded and low key ( or maybe its like that when we go home to Swallowtail in October.)

You'll love the area and the beaches where ever you go.

Tower and Sea Pines Beach parking lots both are restricted to cars with parking passes. Does Tower Beach have any facilities? I can't remember if it has restrooms, etc. I agree that Tower Beach is always less crowded.

Tower Beach

Tower has restrooms and a picnic area. I think there may be a grill at the gazebo for cooking. Other than that, there are no amenities there, aside from the beautiful beach and the dolphins that tend to visit when we are there in October.

Tower is my idea of an ideal quiet private beach, for Sea Pines residents and renters with parking passes.
