Hello all.

Found this site the other night and have been reading through threads like nobody's business. Lots of good information here.

Like some others, my wife and I are considering selling off our SVC points. This is not a trolling-ad so please, put down the torches and pitchforks. Our needs have changed, our vacation plans will now be focused around our new hobby (drag racing) and the SVC just doesn't factor in to that.

I have a few general (and specific) questions on selling these points.

* [Specific info. removed so this post isn't perceived to be advertising.-DeniseM Moderator] Is $1.00 per point still a reasonable expectation? Would that be for total points or typically just for the annual points?

* The 'How to sell your timeshare' thread was written in 2005, and I believe it may be just a bit dated, especially after reading through posts ranging back about three months. Is there a newer-bigger-shinier single source for this type of info that takes current economics into consideration, or do I just need to keep on searching and sifting?

Again, I am not a troll and this is not an advertisement. I'm just another duck in the fog, trying to make my way back to the pond.

Thanks

Murff

Unfortunately, you will likely not get $1.00 per point. We bought ours for about $0.65 per point, and that was about 2 years ago. In this economy, I suspect that it will be lower. If you go to some of the larger resellers, they are still trying to flog them for $1.00 per point, but the advent of the PCCs (postcard companies) on E-bay brought the going rate way down. Great if you are a buyer, but not so great if you are trying to sell.

This price is for total points. We bought 12,500 Hawaii points (through 2 separate txns) at this price. The "title" was transferred over to us, and now we get this amount every anniversary, and of course we get to pay the mfs every year.

Even though it wasn't your intention to post an advertisement, your post violates the TUG advertising rules, so I had to delete some of the specifics of your post. Once you have stated that you "want to sell," you can no longer state the specifics of what you have for sell in the TUG forums.

I don't think it's dated and there certainly isn't anything better out there. The market constantly changes and that's why the article tells you how to find the real market value by doing your own research.

This is a terrible time to sell. If it were me, I would reserve some popular weeks to rent out to cover my maintenance fee, and wait for the market to stabilize.

Good luck!

Sorry, wasn't my intention to violate, just thought the specifics might lead to a less general answer. Which it did (Thanks, Cat Lovers), even tho' it wasn't the answer I was hoping to hear.

Yeah, it's a crummy time to sell, that's for sure.

Thanks
