I just deposited my 2008 studio at PB Mazatlan. Its the first time I've ever deposited it with RCI. I am very surprised how little it pulls. Tried next November and December specifically and probably pulled the same as my SA week. Certainly no other PB properties were offered.

Could it be because the week is 'old'?
It was with PB as a reservation but it wasn't needed so I thought I'd try RCI for some fun.

I'd like your thoughts.....

Thank you!

I'm not sure if I have this right but you are surprised that a recent deposit of a 2008 studio isn't pulling much????

I guess you answered my question

But why can't I find any PB properties? I was under the assumption that owners would see PB where others wouldn't?

As you can see from our RCI account,

The Mexican resorts don't get great trade value from RCI, our PB junior suites are our lowest traders, along with a couple of off season RHC weeks.

It is a studio. In Mexico. In Mazatlan. It is a 2008 unit.

I'm surprised they took it.

I agree and disagree with the above posters. Yes it is a 2008 week and only a studio and in Mazatlan so kind of behind the 8 Ball but it may be too early to pull a lot in Mexico anyway.

I own quite a few timeshares in Mexico and do trade most of my studios thru RCI....and they tarde very well actually...but I sometimes have to wait until about 7 months out to see a good assortment of resorts.

Surprisingly my Velas studio trades wonderfully all over Mexico and US, with bigger units even and it is a mandantory AI thru RCI and not cheap....my Mayan Palace 2 bedroom does not pull what Velas does. I also have a studio at another resort in Mazatlan, but have not tried that as a trade as yet....

So it could be the fact that you depositited so late or it could be that a studio there does not trade well or that it is just a tad to early to see a lot of variety.

I wish you luck.....

II does not accept deposits less than 14 days before check-in. And if you deposit your week 59 to 14 days before check-in, you can only see Flexchange weeks. What are RCI's rules on this?

From RCI's website:

How far in advance can I deposit my week—and how close?

You can deposit from two years to *14 days before the start date of your Vacation Week. The earlier you deposit, the more you maximize your Trading Power and the more opportunities you'll have for a match when you're ready to make an exchange.

*If you have a deposit that is less than 14 days before the start date of your week, please call and speak with an RCI Guide for assistance.

I have heard of late deposits in high demand areas that receive full trade power but I never tested that myself.

I think the term "maximize your trading power" is RCI's way of saying, you'll have more options in the system for a longer period of time. For example, my 2010 deposit only shows about 40,000 possible trades (and increasing daily) whereas, my 2008 deposits are losing possible trades each day-- I'm on the down side of that curve.
I would venture to say, by depositing earlier, you only maximize trade power because of sum total of the number of possible trades that are available over the 3 years it's banked, NOT because the system opens filters or anything..

I think RCI's absolute latest deadline is 3 days before check-in, but I'm not sure.

By the way, an II rep told me they will take deposits that are 13 to 7 days out, but then you get an even shorter exchange period than with flexchange -- you can only trade 30 days out with a deposit made 13 to 7 days out.

Aloha,
It may be time to study up / learn to maximize the 45 day window.

Does Pueblo Bonito still bulk-spacebank? If so, that could skew the supply-demand equation and affect trade power. I love the PB resorts and own...but I use mine or rent it out and haven't deposited with RCI. Having said that, I have another Mex timeshare, a studio at an AI resort, and it trades surprisingly well. I just got back from San Fran over Christmas week via an exchange with a Mex studio. I think the OP should give PB a chance, deposit earlier next time and see what happens then.
