Has any stayed in a surfwatch villa after they did their recent soft goods refurb? Would love to see some pics as we're headed there in late April and need a taste of surfwatch on the snowy northern Illinois day.

We haven't yet but like you we're looking forward to seeing the refurb during our next stay in May.

If you're on Facebook you can "like" the page for SurfWatch. Coincidentally, today they posted pics of the resort but none of them show the refurb.

Or not so coincidentally :) I commented on those pics asking there too!

I will be thee in October. I noticed the comment about leaf blowers. Why do they use them? Brooms and rakes accomplish the same task without ruining the guests enjoyment. I cannot believe they save that much time.

We were there for Christmas and were the first guests to use the villas after the refurbishment.

It was nicely done, but I did not take any pictures of the room.

spent 3 nights there in mid January on long weekend using marriott owner rental discount (about $100/night), stayed in one of the most recently-renovated bldgs, sea marsh, overlooking pool (second-best bldg, imho).

looked very nice, smelled new, typical high quality.... the "new-look" curtains were alternating wide horizontal stripes in varying shades of blue----trying to appear more contemporary---- and we didn't think the colors matched the rest of the villa so well, but it was nevertheless attractive and fresh-looking. new carpet, new large rounded sectional sofa, new pair of small square leather-top ottomans (tops lift up and can flip as wooden coffee table top).

Personally i didn't care for those curtains, but that's the least of my worries when i'm at a resort, so i'll give my own review a "big whoop" as to its importance or relevance.....

at least it was different, and frankly over the last decade, a lot of the designer fabrics and curtains and overall "look" were beginning to all appear quite similar at all the marriott resorts. always beautiful, but as marriott owners, you all know what i mean.

it was our first time staying there at SW, and we enjoyed it. own at Grande Ocean and Barony. love the off-seaon at HH.....luckily we're close enough to go very often.

We were there just after Christmas in what I think was one of the few units that hadn't been refurbed yet - both gardenview and both oceanside buildings were done and only a few oceanvista units remained. I'm pretty sure that all of the units in all of the buildings are now complete.

Don can't wait to get back there and check out the new sectional sofa - he's always said that it's impossible to get comfortable on the SW sofas. Barony, he's okay, SurfWatch, he's miserable. Doesn't make any sense to me, I think they're practically the same sofa. Gosh, I'm making him sound like a Princess and The Pea sort of fussy guy, aren't I? Honest, he's not. With enough pillows behind him he can eventually get comfortable anywhere. :hysterical:

Susan, a glass of wine and the ocean sounds will tend to make any sofa tolerable.....

we loved opening up the glass doors to hear the ocean all evening and night long. btw, marriott gets those heavy-duty sofas so they'll supposedly last a long time and take lots of abuse, but i honestly think they need to change it for a softer model...surely somebody makes a SOFTER sleeper sofa. and if so, marriott surely hasn't found them yet. it's my pet peeve with all the m resorts...... they changed a few years ago to wonderful mattresses and bedding, now we need to voice our opinions about the sofas.
