If you own a Marriott Grande Vista gold week that is in the Florida Club, can you use it to book Marriott’s Ocean Pointe summer weeks via the Florida Club? I am trying to figure out if June, July and August is considered gold season at Ocean Pointe.

If you log onto MVC and go under the education tab, then helpful tools you’ll find the resort calendars for every resort.

edit- just realized you might now own MVC yet. Gold season for Ocean Pointe for 2020 is weeks 22-34- May 28- August 30.

Thanks guys. My Daughter checked into Ocean Pointe yesterday and has fallen in love with it. Only about 2 percent occupied right now according to the front desk. My daughter said it feels like a Hawaii Marriott without the LONG flight/hassle. We will be locked into summer school schedules once the grandchildren start school so thinking of my options to book Ocean Pointe.

Yes, they are considered gold, and they're pretty easy to book most weeks at the six-month mark when it opens to Florida Club transfers. July 4th week is a little tougher but I've seen availability pretty much every other check-in date. Love it there, too.

When you book through the Florida Club does it show the view?

The last time I used the Florida Club I had to do so over the phone. I know the agents can see the units and views on line. Mine was with Beach Place Towers so no view preference.

I think you can book online but I called. The rep told me that you can get OF with Florida Club but your pickings will be slimmer. I had to settle for OV during the week we wanted last year and they put us on the 5th floor of the Pompano building facing south towards the inlet (high enough to be over the former pink, now white I think condo) so were a VERY strong waterview.

My wife and I stayed at Ocean Pointe last week on an II Trade. We had an Oceanfront room, though on the 1st floor of the Sailfish building so it was a lot more view of the pool than the actual ocean, but we still loved it! I just want to make sure I understand Florida Club correctly. If I buy a 2BR at Grande Vista (that is a FC member) I can use that to book into a 2BR at Ocean Pointe during the same season, and I can book the Ocean Front rooms, not just ocean view assuming an OF is available at the 6-month (or 7-month if booking back to back weeks) booking window. What is the availability like? Would I be able to book say a late March Spring Break week at Ocean Pointe at 6 months?

I wouldn't buy a Platinum Grande Vista week with the expectation of using the Florida Club to get into Ocean Pointe in March. My guess is that rarely happens. I think you'd have a better chance at using Interval International at the 12 month mark rather than the Florida Club at the 6 month mark (7 months if booking two weeks).

Using a Gold Week Grande Vista Villa to exchange into Ocean Pointe may be a bit easier, but again I wouldn't want to count on it.

Getting an Ocean Front room at Ocean Pointe using the above two examples is definitely the exception, and not the rule.

Now, if you always want an Ocean Front Villa at Ocean Pointe using the Florida Club then there is one way to do it (assuming there is availability): Buy a three bedroom Grande Vista Villa and use that to reserve at Ocean Pointe (you will have to reserve the entire unit without locking off). This works because ALL the 3 bedroom Villas at Ocean Pointe are Oceanfront views. Once again, keep in mind that there does have to be actual Ocean Pointe 3 bedroom availability at the 6 month mark for this to work for you.

Bottom line? Don't rely on the Florida Club to get into Ocean Pointe. Rather, buy an Ocean Pointe Villa instead....... It will cost you a bit more, but you will always end up at Ocean Pointe. And, you can buy the Oceanfront or Oceanside view Villa.

Just trade in with II if you want to go in May/June/July. If you can do with a 1BR, you won't have any issue using a studio to trade. 2BR don't show up that often at OP in the summer seasons until the second half of August.

I just traded a MGV gold studio for a 2BR (ocean view) at Ocean Pointe for Memorial Day week in 2022. It's a pretty easy trade at that time of year, probably tougher around 4th of July, though.

What is the weather like there this time of year? Obviously about 90 because FL but is there a breeze that will keep us cooler. We are trying to decide if we should book Ocean Pointe or Oceana Palms for next June

This time of year is right when the rainy season starts, give or take a week. We had perfect weather the last week of May at OP, then had a little more rain/humidity in Orlando the following week.

We've also had perfect weather the last week of June in Singer Island, then had a REALLY rainy week the first week of July in Orlando.

Yes, it's hot, but you're at the beach, right?

The weather was great last week. It was 85-87 as the high everyday, but it was not blistering hot. There was always a nice breeze on the beach to keep cooler. We did have some rain a couple days, but it was mainly just a passing afternoon storm, never rained for more than an hour.

I have never stayed at Oceana Palms, but we did drive down to check it out and compare during our stay. Personally I prefer Ocean Pointe, because I like the more spread out resort feel with multiple pools instead of the high rises at Palms. The pool at Palms seems like it would be in the shade most of the afternoon, while at Ocean Pointe you can get plenty of sun at the pool all day. The pool also isnt very large for the number of units in two high rise buildings. The one nicer thing about Palms over Pointe is the free beach chairs, but we just brought our own so we didn't have to rent them.
