I expect a lot of us were hoping we would see an 10th anniversary special this summer, as suggested by @GregT, to allow enrollment of post-2010 weeks, but one that differs from anything they've done annually the past few years.

While the buyout and integration of Westin, et al, has complicated the points program, if we assume a new offering was in the works, does it become even more necessary for MVCI to generate cash when new sales will likely plummet during the recession or is there a reason they would not want to enroll more weeks at this point?

Thoughts?

I was thinking the same thing. It would be an immediate influx of cash to MVC and increase the number of legacy weeks for potential use in the DC program. That would also result in additional annual cash flow in the form of annual membership dues, which of course would be somewhat offset by a reduction in miscellaneous fees.

The other perhaps related question is would they roll out the combined program with Vistana at the same time? I would hope so.

Best regards.

Staffing to handle this may be a big issue right now, most states have folks staying away from their workplaces, as essential all of this may be to us, it would come under the non-essential group to gov’t :)

I wish they'd let me enroll my Hyatt Sunset Harbor Diamond week. Based on other discussion I have to think that might net me a nice little sum of DPs. But, then again, who knows?

+1. I am awaiting the opportunity from MVCI to allow enrolling a legacy (post 6/20/2010) week at a reasonable cost that doesn't require a matching DC Pts purchase. Maybe $5k per week or so?

I do think this will happen eventually...likely when MVCI sales are slow and they see an immediate need for cash influx. Upcoming 10th anniversary of Marriott Destinations Club program partnered with the current economic situation...might be a good timed to do so. It would certainly get MVCI some cash and buy them time before sales return. I have to imagine that MVCI will have a much harder time selling now....with the entire markets being down, folks worrying about jobs, no travel happening, no sales centers open at the resorts, etc.

I personally would love to get my 2 non-enrolled post 6/20/2010 re-sale weeks into the program, at a reasonable cost.

Who knows...if the MVCI resale market falls drastically with little to no ROFR...now might be a good time to buy key legacy weeks..hedging on the gamble that MVCI may enable an option to enroll at some defined reasonable cost sometime soon. Again..risk vs reward here.

A Pre June 2010 week can be enrolled for free. It’s been that way for a while. You can do it online on the website for free.
