My other Panasonic phone answering machine died last year while on a timeshare vacation. Apparently it got zapped during some thunderstorms. We do have a surge protector, but it happened anyway. It was not under warranty anymore, so it could not be repaired for free. I could ship to a Panasonic repair center but until they get it I would not know how much it would cost to repair it if at all possible. The machine I got to replace it has too small of pushbuttons on it. Also, the caller ID display is hard to read by just glancing at it. We like to screen our calls before picking up. It is also a Panasonic. Both of these models have a main unit with a cordless phone and then a seperate cordless phone in its own base that we have in another room. I am 51 and my husband is 65, so both of our eyesights are not the best anymore. Any suggestions?? Thanks in advance.

We just purchased a three phone Uniden set with 5.8GHZ. It has a good answering machine and all the bells and whistles. All for $250 and with two rebates ends up a$100. Not bad and you can actually use the speaker phone with very clear reception. Best I have heard to date. :)

Just a question...........why not a voice mail system? That's what we've had for years. We don't have caller ID, but we certainly could if we wanted to.
