Hello everyone, we are a group of 6 adults with a week at SunSwop at Sabi River in Hazyview for August 2019. As we are still planning our trip, we want to extend our time with an additional week in South Africa or another country that is nearby. We love nature, learning about new cultures and will have a rental car. We have timeshares on RCI and Interval, open to range of accommodations (even tenting) or going to non-timeshare property. Any suggestions appreciated or share your recent travel experiences.

My only suggestion is that you shouldn't travel via rented car after dark. (Maybe I watch horror movies a lot or mayhap, it doesn't matter for you, but I always take this kind of precautions while travelling abroad).

i have been to the Royal Zambezi Lodge in Zambia a number of years ago. August is a great time to visit, not hot, we had 68-74 degrees the whole trip, virtually no biting insects. The whole area a is fabulous

I cannot compare it with SA since i have not been there but Zambia felt extremely safe.

Some ideas:

1. Visit Cape Town -
they have a beautiful botanical garden called Kirstenbosch Gardens
Take the hop-on hop-off bus around the city
See the Penguins at Bolders Beach
Drive the Cape peninsula- the views are absolutely stunning
Take the gondola up to the top of Table Mountain
Visit Robben Island and see where Nelson Mandela was jailed.

There are a few timeshares in Cape Town, but I can recommend a guest house in the Tamboerskloof area called Underberg Guesthouse:

Check out the offerings of Landscape Tours. I did a flower tour with them a few years ago and it was wonderful. It’s a 4 day or 6 day tour up the North western coast of the Country. The flowers bloom mid August to early September. The tour company offers a variety of tours. It would be great if you could do a tour while in SA:

Visit Chobe National Park, Botswana
There are hundreds of Elephants in this reserve

Visit Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe

In Johannesburg visit the Apartheid Museum:
