We will be in Orlando in October with a large family group. 2 families 7 kids from 12-2. Can anyone suggest a family friendly beach within driving distance from Orlando. We will do some Disney but need a beach day or two.
Daytona is on the Atlantic Coast, it's about 60 miles from Orlando.
Don't know that I'd recommend going in the water- my daughter Manda went to school in Daytona for 5 years, and never got in the water- they were always having shark warnings.
Daytona Beach will host BikeOctoFest from 10/15-10/19. I have fun when I go, but I am over 30 and have no big issues with leather, tattoos, or Harley-Davidson stuff.
Cocoa is a guick trip and a nice Atlantic Coast beach. With little ones, you might want to consider Treasure Island or Clearwater to the west. It's an extra half-hour or more in driving time, but the waters are much calmer, safer and quite beautiful.
If you want waves, go east to Cocoa (one hour drive). If you want calm water, go west to Siesta Key or Bradenton beach (1 1/2 hours). I prefer the Gulf coast but my sons like the waves. Maybe try one day on each side!
