We were at a boat show and the Worldmark had a booth, they flagged us down and we spun the wheel for a vacation package. We landed on some small offer and the agent moved the wheel to the “VIP” position. We had no interest in purchasing and know the bait and switch routine, but the promise of $200 dining credit and 4 day vacation for a local 2 hour sales pitch seemed ok. We showed up as planned in a historic building downtown San Diego and went to the top floor sales area. There was annoying music playing too loudly, horrible acoustics and multiple agents trying to talk over each other. After some Q&A with the hype girl, she led us through a very well done AV presentation but compared the costs of the select crowds average 2 week per year to the non-costed 30000 points scheme. If you have 30k points, you are going to have done nice and long holidays! Back to the sales office where we were handed over to the closer, she ran the numbers for 6K points which is about 7-10 days, $27K discounted “right now only, never again” pricing of $20k with $900 maint fee capped at 1% per annum, so they say. We stated that was no where near the previous comparison and said no thanks, there were a couple of further offers, essentially try before you buy 2 year options and the supervisor offered a few more variations, eventually down to about $3K to try it out. We said no and got out in 1.5 hrs. Only $100 in voucher was provided against the $200 promised and our sales agent was having surgery so could not respond so we left, follow up with agent to get the other $100 not so good. Tried to register vacation voucher and website agent says “never heard of this” and email has gone unresponded!!! If the service after sales for those who actually purchase is anything like this, then god help you!
