Earlier this summer we purchased a 1995 Subaru Legacy LSi AWD. The seats appear to be hard leather. My son says they are vinyl. Who wins?

I used to have that same model and year. The seats were leather.

I don't recall Subarus having vinyl seats. To my knowledge, they've been either leather or cloth, at least for the past several years.

If it is a Brighton, they might be vinyl. Does it have crank windows? If so, it is a Brighton.

Ooops; reading comprehension error. If it is an LSi, then they are absolutely leather.

At least one of my cars has always been a Subaru. At one time with 4 drivers we had 4 of them. I like the wagons but between my kids and I; we have 5. One of them is even a brat. The only thing you have to watch is the cv joint for the first 100K miles.

On our road trip from Utah up to Canada as far north as Jasper we averaged 27.6 mpg, so that was good for me.

Ever had a timing belt changed? I need to have that done and am wondering what the cost will be. I haven't shopped it around yet.

Timing belt prices can be all over the place. Yes, shop around and clarify what you're getting. Some cars, it's recommended to get the water pump changed out while you're at it.

Try this site... Will give you an idea of the cost. http://repairpal.com/

I don't REALLY remember, but $600 seems to stick in my mind. It has been a while. This was my independent mechanic that works on nothing but Subarus. I've tried to convince him to start working on Hondas since DD's is at 100,000 miles, but no luck so far.
