One of the best advantages for timeshare ownership is preparing meals in-house instead of dining out. We make it a time for favorite recipes and special treats.

Strawberry shortcake is a special dessert. Hostess no longer makes their shortcake cups, but their Twinkies are the next best thing.

Slice 6 strawberries per serving. Place in a bowl and dust with a teaspoon of granulated white sugar. Stir to coat, then let sit for at least an hour to render juices. Serve the strawberries over two Twinkies, let the juices soak into the sponge cake, and top with Reddi-Whip or homemade whipped cream.

That is a dessert you cannot buy in any restaurant.

What is your favorite fresh strawberries recipe?

Strawberry season isn't until April in Virginia --- no recipe, just pick and eat

Everything is just around the corner. Went out yesterday and was amazed to see all the Bradford Pear trees and Candy Tuft shrubs are in full bloom here in NC. Our strawberries we planted in the backyard a few years ago haven’t come out yet.

There is new snow on the ground here, but strawberries are in season at the supermarket for $1.99/lb.

We are in week 3 of going out in the backyard and bringing a handful of strawberries in to top Cliff's breakfast cereal or my yogurt. Eventually we'll be "forced" to eat them for dessert to keep up with our garden bounty. Usually plain in a bowl, or with a squirt of whipped cream. I used to buy Bisquik just to make shortcakes, and then I'd add water and sugar and smash half of the berries with the bottom of a glass and let sit in the fridge a couple hours. Loved the last bite or two of soggy shortcake soaked in strawberry syrup. I wonder if Bisquik is one of those Boomer foods, like Mrs Dash, that is now disdained by Millenials?
