Strategies to Increase Number of Weeks Available - if one owns 2 br Ko Olina unit?

One is to split the 2 br unit and use a 1 br unit and studio/efficiency section separately.

One is to deposit the 2 br unit with II, and get another unit in exchange as well as an accomodation certificate. Can one deposit 1 br of the 2 br (split lock-off) unit with II, and get the accomodation certificate? Does the accomodation certificate in this scenario give the same units in exchange (ie 2 br as well as 1 br), or not?

Another option is to trade one's unit of a given year onsite with II, for the proceeding or succeeding year (eg one's 2010 unit for a 2009 or 2011 unit?).

I wonder if there are any other options?

Of course, with all these options, there is a cost involved with the transaction.

You can deposit only the 1 BR side and will get an AC which can be used for either a studio, 1BR or 2 BR unit if available (at different fees, of course).

You've pretty much thought of the options. Just keep in mind that, if you are looking for back to back weeks at Ko'Olina, the only sure bet is to lock off and book both sides consecutively. The other manipulations are doable, but they are subject to availability in II and are not the sure thing the salesperson probably implied (I know ours made it sound like it was practically a given).

Last month I was blocked from using my AC to trade back into my home resort, even during flexchange. When I called to ask II, I was told that could not get an AC for a particular resort and use that same AC to go back into the resort for which I received the AC.

According to my contract, the AC (obtained by depositing a week from any resort in Hawaii into II) can not be used to get any additional week at any MCVI resort in Hawaii, or a Colorado mountain resort during the winter.

I recently locked off my Ko Olina. I used the efficiency and deposited the 1 bedroom, receiving an AC. I used this AC to book a 2 bedroom Waiohai at Christmas during flextime (unusual, but this year there are a lot of Hawaii Xmas weeks). My plan is to use the 1 bedroom to trade into a 2 bedroom unit in Kona this summer, again during flextime. We'll see if it works out. II has been kind to me!

That's what I was told as well. Does this restriction lift during Flexchange?
