I certainly understand that COVID rules are all over the place and that anyone including RCI would have a hard time keeping up with things across the US and the world.
I have a reservation for 4 days starting next week (Feb 17, 21) at the Wyndham Canterbury in San Francisco. Although California in general has opened up to non essential travel the 10 county San Francisco Bay Area has their own rules. Unless you live in the 10 Bay Area counties lodging facilities can only check you in if your reservation is at least 10 days and you quarantine for the first 10 days (or you are on essential travel).
After a little confusion they understood the rule. Obviously they need to confirm that and not just take my word. No problem.
However, when I pushed the supervisor on what happens once they confirm it all he would commit to was "it depends". I told him it was ludicrous a year in that they don't have a set policy for situations where the property is not allowed to check you in.
At this point, they certainly haven't said they won't refund my points/fees but I found it crazy they don't have a set policy.
FWIW We live 100 miles away in Sacramento so it's not a huge deal to lose the reservation.
