Stop Paying Westgate

I have a Westgate timeshare in Florida I want out of.
It has no mortgage owing on it, I just pay the maintenance.
I live in the UK so I'm not sure how that complicates things if I just decide to stop paying them?
Anyone have any insight whether I would likely have any backlash if I just stop paying and ignore all future correspondence?

TIA!

Welcome to TUG.

Since it is deeded in Florida and if you do nothing and do not object to foreclosure it will eventually go away. Check out the Florida Timeshare Law sticky. in the Buying/Selling section.

You are based in the UK and AFAIK Westgate has no operations in the UK so I don't believe they could impact your credit history.

You could contact them, let them know that you are international and based on Florida timeshare law you do not object to foreclosure if you walk away. Would they prefer to deed in lieu of foreclosure if you give it back for free and with no fee. If they insist on a fee or say "no", then tell them you DO NOT OBJECT to foreclosure and will walk away. Send the "DO NOT OBJECT TO FORECLOSURE' in followup in writing and you should be good. Ignore all communications from their bill collectors.
