We received our welcome letter from Ke Nani Kai late today, 5pm. We requested a quiet unit, away from activities and she said she has the best unit for us. We will be in 257. You can see on the map where we will be.

I will be posting pictures and video later. Checkin time is 4pm and we plan to leave the east side around 2pm. We will stop in Kaunakakai to get groceries for the week and we are going to stop at Da Bomb Grindz on out way there to get some plate dinners. We should get there a little early but close to 4pm and I'm sure the unit will be ready for us.

Kim's Monday Ukulele class was canceled because of the holiday and she decided not to go to her Ukulele Jam session on Wednesday so we will most likely stay on the west side all week unless we decide to get a round of golf in.

Below is the resort map and welcome letter.

Da Bomb Grindz is a pop up that is usually located at the Ice House on the Wharf in Kaunakakai. They are usually there one long weekend a month.

They are trying a new location in Ho'olehua and it's on our way out to the west side. Here is their ad they post on Facebook.

Overcast morning here on the east side. We are packing for our long trip over to the West side. Once we finish laundry, we'll be able to finish packing. Then we'll head into town to get groceries for the week and stop out for our plate lunches.

The weather is looking pretty good with a much less chance for rain over there. We looking forward to a little change of scenery and a break from our daily routine. 🤙🏻

When we stayed there last year we were in 133. You drove out there with us from the airport, and visited us in the unit that day.

The Kepuhi Beach Resort store is a bit tricky to find, (kind of in the center of that resort), and it's tremendously expensive, if you need anything major. I think a quarter pound stick of margerine cost me $5.00. Yikes! :D

Your view from your unit will generally be to the right of the old Sheraton, which is now a sad teardown place. It was sobering to walk around the place.

Take your telescope. It'll be mighty dark out there. And from the bluffs overlooking the beach, you should be able to see Oahu.

You've been there, so I think you know what to expect. Hope you both have a great time!

Dave

Yep, we're bringing some food from home and we are shopping on our way out there. I am going to wait until we see the unit before I pack the telescope. It's big and I want to make sure there is a convenient place to set it up first. We are coming back to our condo at least once to get some mail Kim needs.

I'll be posting some pictures and maybe even some videos here.🤙🏻

Good choices. The fact that you *could* drive home and get the telescope if you wanted to makes it convenient. I was thinking of setting it up in the closest section of Sheraton parking lot would be pretty easy, but then you'd need to dismantle it when you were done with it.

If you remember the unit we were in, I'd expect yours would be similar. It had a full kitchen, with a full-sized stove and full-sized fridge. SO you'll have plenty of food storage options.

Pictures will tell us how much fun it was. :D

Yep, it will be the same setup as yours. Ours will be facing the other direction, like you said. It would be overlooking a hole on the golf course if that was still open. It's all overgrown now.

It will be fun.🤙🏻😎🌴

We made it. We got here at 3:40pm and went right up to our unit. The door was open and it was already for us. I brought the groceries in and started to bring in the luggage and other things we brought, while Kim put away the groceries.

We stopped and had our Da Bomb Grindz before we started putting our things away. We had Korean Chicken and Tempura Shrimp combo plates that had Mac salad and cucumber kimchee. We also got a Braised Oxtail plate for tomorrow. There are no food places here on the west side so that will be a treat for us tomorrow.

We have an end unit so the breeze is just as nice as our condo on the east side. It's nice being on the second floor like we are used to also.

I took a video of the unit and will post that in a bit. There were some Peacocks just outside our unit and I took some pictures of those.

They had some fresh lemons and Limes on the table for us along with some maps and brochures.

So far so good.🤙🏻

We had some turkeys pass by below our lanai shortly after the Peacocks went by the front of our unit.

Looks familiar! Flipped version of the unit layout, but prety identical to the one we had. We were on the ground floor, though.

Have a good stay!

We went down to hand in our checkin paperwork so we stopped by the pool. We had a rooster greet us when we got there.😀

Looks like great fun! Coast to coast stay-vacation.

How does your place there at Ke Nano Kai compare to Pono Kai and Maui Schooner as a timeshare for the rest of us non-locals.
I see the buy in price is similar to what Lawai Beach is selling HOA owned units for. MFs look great for Hawaii.

I never looked at it as Coast to Coast. Lol

I really consider them all on the same level. There is no A/C here but it hasn't been needed at all. It seems to be like our home, where it would be warm if the trade winds stop but that hasn't happened very often.

I was able to pick up all my timeshares for free. I looked for about a year for a two bedroom here but never saw a free one. When a one bedroom came up I took it. I found out later that I could upgrade to a two bedroom at no cost based on availability. So far I have been able to every time. But I have only needed a one bedroom each time too so it has worked out well.

There aren't many ocean views here and the few are very distant views. I agree with my wife. She said the biggest difference is the island. You would really want to relax and hang on the beach or at the pool here on Molokai. You could take a boat tour, play some golf and check out the island. That would certainly fill a week but you better know how to unwind if you come to Molokai. 🤙🏻

We really enjoyed Molokai, but some friends told us it was the most boring place they had even been. So if you are looking for activities, shopping, fine dining, and full-size grocery stores, Molokai is not for you. We knew Molokai was quiet before we went, and did a lot of advanced research to find out what we wanted to see, but our friends showed up with no plans and expected to be entertained.

I loved Molokai when we visited, but the rest of my family felt a week there was much too long.

Molokai is really a love it or hate it type of destination. We are here at the pool now and there are three couples. One couple are snow birds and two other couples are from Alaska and they have a unit at Kepuhi Beach Condos. They come for two weeks every year. The other couple rented a condo here at Ke Nani Kai for two week and they all come to use this pool because they like it better.

Right now it is really quiet here but they said it does get busier in the winter which makes sense. They have been coming for 8 years so a year longer than us.

The pool is cold but the sun is warm today.🤙🏻

I hear that about many of the islands, we really enjoy the Big Island, but i have had multiple friends complain about how quiet it.. I had a coworker go to Kauai on a Costco package, and told he was really going to like it, and all he did was complain that it was way too rural almost a 3rd world country...

I think many people expect all the Islands to be like Honolulu / Waikiki

We went in for our Tuesday golf outing today. We had a little misty rain at the start but never really got wet. It was cooler up there in Kualapuu. It was 69 degrees when we finished at 11am. When we got back to the highway it was 80 degrees. Same here at Ke Nani Kai 80 degrees.

On our way back we stopped at Kumu Farms. They had a lot of ripe Papayas so they were 3 for $3.00. We got three and then ypu get a free one of you spend $15.
We got a couple dragon Fruit and a sweet onion.

We took the road to Paniolo Hale on the way to the condo. That is the road we see from our lanai. We could see the old fairway to one of the old holes on the old golf course. So our condo would have been a golf course view back in the day.

In the picture below, our condo is just to the right of center in the photo.

The turkeys come by our lanai at least once a day. Usually mid-morning and mid-afternoon.

We get our haircut tomorrow. The lady who cuts our hair used to live at WaveCrest but moved to the west side last year. The timing worked out good for us. After that we will probably walk down toward Kepuhi Beach. So far it's been a nice change of pace.

There aren't many choices to get a haircut here on Molokai. We used to have a friend that lived at WaveCrest do ours but she moved to the West side a year ago. We still make the trip over to take care of us but she had to have shoulder surgery this summer. It's actually been over six months since she cut our hair last.

I tried to keep up with it but I was way over due and I haven't had my hair that long in decades. Well, just before we left for our staycation she surprised us with a text that she is alright to cut hair again. So finally we were able to get our haircut.

She lives at Kepuhi Beach Condos so we just walked over. We haven't seen her in so long, we were there over three hours catching up. She has a nice view from her lanai and she has adjusted well to life on the west side. Below are a couple of pictures from her lanai.🤙🏻

There was a time I liked rural Hawaii the best, but now I like Waikiki the best. I could end up anywhere in Hawaii while it's winter here and be very happy.

There was a time when we really didn't care if we went back to Oahu but after living there for three years, we look forward to going back. We enjoy Waikiki.

While I wouldn't want to live there again, we really enjoyed our time living there and we have enjoyed our return visits a lot.🤙🏻
