We were planning to go to France and Italy, initially in 2016 but had to delay our plans due to work to 2017. Now we have postponed the trip indefinitely.

We just booked a trip to Europe with six nights in Paris following a ten night cruise. We will remain vigilant, but are more concerned about pick pockets and the language than a terrorist attack.

We got home from Paris and a France river cruise just a couple of weeks before the most recent terrorist attacks. And we'd still go again, but we'd be even more cautious at sites or events with a congestion of people. Unfortunately, I think this is becoming the way of the world--always be on your toes, no matter where.

We spent a week in Paris in October 2015. We were in Connelles Normandy from October 8-15, 2015 and Paris October 15-22, 2015. So we missed the attacks by about 3 weeks. We will not let the attacks in Paris or elsewhere stop us from traveling. While we are always careful when it is your time it is your time. I have lost a friend walking down a sidewalk because a car blew a tire. Plus if you stop traveling or make other major changes then in part the Terrorists have won.

The risk of being killed by a terrorist is minuscule. Far less than the risk of being killed in an automobile accident here at home (or overseas). Yet we all still drive cars.

I worry more about being hit by a meteor than a terrorist attack, which is to say not at all. ;)

Already booked tickets to Europe for Oct.

I'm British-American so I have a natural aversion to anything French anyway. We spent three weeks this past summer in UK and almost booked a day trip by train to Paris. Glad we didnt because the refugee crisis hit and disrupted the train service. We are planning on Spain-Italy in 2017, not really concerned about terrorist activity.

We still plan to go to Paris; possibly in 2017. The 9-11 attacks did not stop us from visiting NYC and Washington DC and these recent events will not stop our Paris plans. We will be careful but we will not let terrorism disrupt our lives.

I can think of a number of better destinations than Paris for a variety of reasons, but terrorism is NOT one of them.

The majority of the world agrees that fear of terrorism is a very small factor in deciding vacation venues - just look at how popular London, DC, and New York City remain as destinations following the attacks on those cities.

I visited and worked in the UK during the IRA terrorist attacks. Didn't stop me from enjoying the time and the threats now won't stop me from traveling.;)

Cheers

It might be a good idea to actually visit Europe now before the culture in each country changes to something else. I know I want to see Italy while it is still essentially Italian. Unfortunately, I cannot do so yet.

I agree that terrorists want us to be afraid, that is why it is called terrorism.

My own personal take on this is that places there there already have been attacks are probably less likely to be attacked again. They step up their security after an attack and I believe the terrorists are more likely to attack new places to increase their effect. So I would be less afraid of going to places that already have been hit. Plus there is no way to predict who will be attacked next, so why not go anywhere. Or course this doesn't not mean going places where there is active conflict, including drug wars.

Of course I don't know this for sure, it is just my guess.

Lightning?

Aren't terrorist attacks a bit like lightning...with respect to striking twice in the same place?
