We purchased a Sheraton property through resale. When everything was settled I called Starwoods Vacation Services and asked about getting into the Starwood points system. At that time ~ maybe 3/4 years ago ~ I was told that it would cost me $599.00 to tfr. into the points system and then pay $99.00 a year. Back then we couldn't afford to do this.

About 3 months ago I called again to take that offer and was refused. They said they could not let me into the Starpoints System since I bought resale. Does anyone know if it is possible for me to buy into the system or am I out of luck. I do not want to sell and rebuy. I have a floating week at prime time, 2 BR and I love it. But I would like to trade within the Starpoints system. Any chance of that???????/:shrug:

What unit do you have and when did you buy it? The only way I can see you being told you can join SVN for $599 is if you bought from Embassy before Starwood took over. Otherwise, resale owners can never join SVN for a fee or for free. Katherine

I suppose it was 3/4 years ago, not positive but can check on our deed, we bought through TUG resale at Sheraton Broadway Plantation. We love it there and have no intentions of changing anything but as I said, I was told that I could buy in at that time. Price was $599.00. This was at My Starwood Customer Services.

Since then we were at a timeshare presentation and were offered the points for our two bedroom unit. Will never do that! This unit is ours forever and they can not have it back. It seems that the two BR units were at a premium at the time of this presentation and that was in Feb. of 2008.

I just pulled out my deed for this property and noted on my pages is the following: "Spoke to Maggie at Starwood Vacation Ownership on 12/2/05. She told me the cost to join is $599.00 initial fee and $99.00 per year thereafter."
