I just registered on mystarcentral today because I just received my contract number. I bought resale at SVV Bella a 2bd lock-off.

There are 3300 options from 2011 and 247,700 options beside 2012 in the Account Balances. Am I lucky or it is a glitch in the system that I am not aware of?

With this, I can have some pretty nice vacation. If it is the case, how do I use them? Do you think I have my 97,500 options on top of that as well?

Thanks

You will have to use the 2011 Staroptions before the end of the year, and 3,300 SO's will get you about 3 hours in a TS - so that's a tiny amount.

Staroptions do not roll-over (at least not until next year) so I can't think of anyway that you could have 247,700 Staroptions for 2012 - unless the owner has other weeks, and your Acct. and their Acct. haven't been separated yet.

I'd call and get it straightened out.

I think you've actually broken into the previous owner's MSC account. The unit probably hasn't yet been transferred to you at Starwood.

It's unfortunately very easy to break in to someone's account if you know a contract number.

What's this based on? What makes you think the unit hasn't been transferred yet? Just curious.

Do not depend on the SOs listed on MSC as the correct number.

What if the last owner does not have an other Starwood unit, do the options just disappear?

On MyStarCentral, if you click on Your Information, What I Own, what do you see?

If you own a unit worth 95,700 StarOptions, so you are entitled to use only those StarOptions. As others have stated, you're probably seeing something from another owner's account...

There is another thread about this issue. We are experiencing the same thing as Starwood hasn't delinked the contract for us as new owners. You can call them and they will do it. However, in our case we are leaving that way, as the prior owner and I are very comfortable with the situation and she made a reservation for us before the transfer of ownerships was completed. I spoke with Starwood and was told that they could cancel the reservation made in our name, delink the account, and then rebook the reservation since the resort still has space. However, we would lose our space in line for room assignments. Starwood suggested leaving our account as it is and then after we use the reserved week next April, call and they will delink the account. As I mentioned, the prior owner and I are comfortable with this, so it will work out.

Very strange situation, but we are making it work. Good luck.

Currently, there is no way for a single week owner to accumulate 247,700 SO's in one year.

But starting in 2012 - all SO owners can roll SO's over to the next year.

Very happy to report that Ada903 was able to get our accounts de-linked, and the rep was able to date stamp our reservation for the original reservation date of August, so we won't lose our place in line. Apparently, this rep was more informed than the rep I spoke with earlier. So, if you are in a similar situation when buying a Starwood resale, keep trying until you get a rep who knows how to handle the situation. Maui here we come!
