Star Option Question

If I purchase a resale (Gold Week) at a mandatory Westin resort with 81,000 star options, will I be restricted to using the star options only during gold season at other resorts?

The restriction on Gold season will only be for Home Resort reservations 12-8 months at your home resort. At other resorts you will be able to book any week/days that add to 81,000 or less StarOptions but only within 8 months of arrival.
 
In many cases (but not all) it is best to buy a Platinum(+) week (Mandatory resale) because the ongoing $/SO is maximized.
So make sure you account for this.
