Hi Nancy

Went to Star Island in June 2010 going this June 2012. My TS is in building 12 which was great....I enjoyed my experience here a lot. We had a nice clean updated room with new flat screen TV's. Easy access to Disney, Universal, etc....

I'ts been a long time since I've been back to my home resort (last time was back in 1999) but here's what I remember
Basically there are 3 story (the older) and 6 story (the newer) buildings. The 3 story don't have elevators and the 6 stories do. The 3 story have 11 units in a building split into two halves (5 in one , 6 in the other). the 6 story have 8 units per floor. I like the 3 story as they don't feel crowded and own a top floor unit in bldg 12. The northern side 3 story bldgs are bounded by a wooded area and lake Bonnet so feel more secluded. The layout of all units is essentially the same although most of the 6 story buildings have a common laundry area between the A and B sides of a unit instead of having the laundry in just the B side. Also I think the newer units have 2 access doors to the master bathroom in the B side to allow entry from either the master bedroom or living room. In the 3 story buildings you may want to avoid units on the ground where the air conditioners are situated close to a unit since some reviewers indicated that the noise bothered them.

Also I believe most of the 3 story buildings have been updated within the last few years

The B side has the full kitchen, dining/living room area with the sofa being a sofa bed , Master bedroom/bathroom , balcony. The A side has 2 bedrooms with one having 2 single beds I think and the other being a bedroom/study with a sofa bed and kitchenette (microwave, sink, fridge, silverware, plates, cups, coffee maker, toaster, etc). And of course a bathroom. See the TUG resort images.

The 6 story buildings are mostly Wyndham's where the RCI units would be located.
The almost all of 3 story units and some of the 6 story units might be found in II.

Nice quiet resort. Lots of tennis courts with a pro available for lessons ($).

The larger 1bdr "B" units are very relaxing.

The "A" units are good for "travelling" friends to share as the bedroom has 2 double bed and the LR has a sofabed. Bath is off the hallway. Don't plan on cooking much beyond breakfast and reheating leftovers unless you are nuking frozen TV dinners.

Thanks all. We have a 2 bedroom from RCI, so I'm assuming in the 6 story buildings.

Bldg 12 has 2 halves each with 3 stories although it might look like the left half has only 2 stories. The left half has 2 units on the ground floor, 2 on the next floor, and 1 on the top floor for a total of 5 units in that half. The right half has 2 units on each floor (6 total units in that half). I own unit 1231 which is a 3 bedroom on the top floor in the left half of the building as shown in the linked picture although you can't really see it from the picture.

The top floor on the left half bldg 12 (and true for all 3 stories I believe) has one 3 bedroom unit and then an area equal to the size of another unit that is open space for sunning which is really nice if you didn't want to go down to the pool.

Wow...I stayed there and had no clue someone was upstairs from me on a third floor. Thanks for clarifying it. I was very happy with building #12...
