Hello!,

I love this forum. You guys are awesome!:)

Is there any chance that I will be able to get into a Southwest Florida Resort (Marco, Naples, Ft Myers, Captiva, etc.) with an RCI Instant Exchange during Spring Break (4/4-4/11). Do these ever open up within the 45 day window?

I am not yet an RCI member, so I don't have access to the info. Are there still exchanges available for these now?

It seems to me that things come up, and people have to change plans.

Am I dreaming?

Dream on...

Hope springs eternal, but yes --- you are indeed dreaming.

If any such prime week for coastal SW FL suddenly appeared in RCI exchange inventory due to a late deposit by its owner, any such deposit would almost certainly be snagged immediately by an RCI member with an "ongoing search" on file for exactly such a week. In that case, the week would never actually be "seen" in available exchange inventory at all.

Even more likely however, RCI would simply rent out such a prime deposited week themselves (for nearly ten times the amount of a mere $164 exchange fee). In that case, such a prime week would never even make it to the "exchange inventory" at all in the first place, not even for those with an "ongoing search" already actively seeking exactly that week.

Dreams are good ---but they are still dreams...;)

Still Dreaming...

O.K. Maybe there won't be an Instant Exchange available for that week.

Is it possible to still get a week on the exchange while giving the full points exchange value? April 4-11 is on the very tail end of the Spring Break season, and I'm willing to go anywhere on the Gulf Coast.

I'm trying to hold on to some hope here!:)

Thanks Theo and London for your responses!

BUT this time is very different from the past. So although in the past this might not be possible, IMHO, anything is possible these days.

This doesn't mean I think you'll get it, just that past experiences of use Tuggers may no longer be as valuable as they have been in the past.

My opinion, still, is that it's highly unlikely! The week that is just about to end....week 52.....was 100% occupied on Siesta Key according to our local newspaper.....Yes, even with times they way they are. Apparently, with cheaper gas prices and the weather up north, many people made late reservations. Lots of traffic and long lines at restaurants.

The week you are asking about is always very busy.

Actually, Easter is April 12th, so April 4-11 is prime Spring Break season.

An incorrect assumption...

Please note that all the advice on this board is from TS owners using their past experience to answer your question.

BUT this time is very different from the past. So although in the past this might not be possible, IMHO, anything is possible these days.

I certainly agree that these are unusual times, but my particular input was based upon real time, right now personal observations (not "past experience", of which I actually have very little in the "exchanging" arena).

Specifically, we have a number of consecutive fixed winter weeks in coastal SW FL. Historically, we use and enjoy our weeks, rarely renting, almost never "exchanging". However, because of other obligations in early 2009, we cannot use our weeks 7 through 10. We easily rented out 3 out of 4 of those weeks. With some reluctance, one week was instead deposited with RCI (a company which I openly dislike quite a lot), in hopes of getting a week 14 (April 4-11, 2009) anywhere in coastal SW FL for a relative. An ongoing search was immediately initiated (many months ago), seeking an "exchange" week of LESS value and demand than what we deposited in the first place (week 7; President's Week, waterfront). So far --- nothing.

My belief is that for this particular geographic area, demand so consistently exceeds supply that, even in these unusual and difficult times, the odds of finding any "exchange" week there between weeks 5 through 15 are very slim. Not based on "past experience" but on current personal observation.

I'm pretty new to this, but from my research the availabilities on your exchange list (weeks) will be different than what I am looking for (points).

Am I wrong in assuming this?

Again, thank you all for your responses!

Can you please restate what you are asking?

The poster above is talking about DEMAND. He is saying that the demand is very high for those weeks. Demand is high whether you are talking about points or weeks - especially your week - the week before Easter when many kids are out of school.
