If anyone is looking for a getaway, the weather in Minnesota and Wisconsin is fantastic! Today is 72-75 degees and sunny, and the feeling of fall is in the air. The leaves are starting to change and the sky is so blue that it seems fake. The forecast remains the same for the next week or so and generally is great through the middle of October. It is the best time of year in the midwest in my opinion:wave:

This time of year, it is great to be outside. There are so many lakes that are geared toward public entertainment with music, parks, food etc. I like to rollerblade or bike along the lake and then hang out and get ice cream and listen to a concert in the Lake Harriet bandshell.

Duluth is a great town in Northern Minnesota on Lake Superior and there is lots of great hiking as well as Gooseberry Falls and Lighthouse.

Minneapolis, of course, has all the city things. Great Restaurants, Acme Comedy Club, shopping, museums etc.

If you choose to be inside, the Mall of America is always worth a visit. Every store you can think of, Nickelodeon Universe for the kids, hotels with waterparks etc.

Anything you choose to do is just going to be better because it's so nice out. Maybe I just appreciate it because winter is just SO long and cold and I know it's coming:bawl:

I live in Minnesota and couldn't agree more. We are right outside St. Paul and the weather is incredible at this time of year. Before we moved here 3 years ago, I would have wondered what I would ever do in Minnesota, but there is plenty. If you enjoy the outdoors, and the changing colors, then Minnesota is a great place to travel in the fall.

It is worth the drive to drive up north and see the color changes right now, but we will be in full color bloom here in 'the cities' in a few weeks. In addition, Duluth and Pequot Lakes have many fall festivals occurring in their towns. Canoeing at this time of year is a great option, or renting a boat on the St. Croix river. We also have hundreds of miles of paved bike trails in the state that take you right along many rivers and lakes, along with beautiful hiking trails.

As 'summervaca' stated, we have a very long winter ahead of us, but that is beautiful too, just very long. I actually don't mind the winters here because it much sunnier here then in Michigan, where we previously lived. I just wish it was about a month shorter.
