Special Assessment -The Village at Palmetto Dunes, Hilton Head SC

Just received a special assessment invoice for $1580. Did not receive any information prior to receiving the invoice. Am not sure if this is a 1 time fee or whether it's for multiple years. When I called to inquire, I was told that information was mailed out earlier this year ( I never received anything). I've left messages and am waiting to hear back from the management company (RMC). Would appreciate comments/feedback from other Village owners regarding this matter.

can you asked the management company to send you a copy of the information that was mailed to all the timeshare owners or can they email you a copy of the information.

That information should be file in the management office. IMHO

likely were mailed a notice of the vote for a special assessment at a homeowners meeting as well, as its not something a board can just do in private.

Thanks Brian, I appreciate your feedback. I'm finding it impossible to reach board members directly. Apparently all contact has to go thru RMC. Fortunately RMC management has been very helpful but I do find it "concerning" that there's no way to interact directly with the board:-(.

that isnt uncommon, the management company is hired specifically to act as a point of contact for owners for all things like that.

however management companies are almost always licensed and would be bound by the same state laws/statutes applying to hoas. it appears that south carolina has an ombudsman for disputes or issues between owners and boards/management companies if they are not complying
