We have been extremely lucky. My bff's daughter works at Kennedy Space Center. She is in Safety. We were there one time years ago over our dd's spring break. A launch was scheduled and we were able to get passes to watch from the causeway. BFF's dd had gotten the passes, they got a certain amount and she just happened to luck out and gave them to us. What an experience! We must have been there for four hours or more, but it sure didn't seem that long. We were watching dolphins and alligators out in the water.
A few years later when this same young lady got married dh and I went to the wedding in Cocoa Beach. Found out the launch had been delayed by a day so we were able to see it. This was an early morning launch (the other had been an afternoon) and we watched it from the beach close to where the wedding couple were living. Completely different experience and view, but equally amazing.
When our dd was going to college in St. Petersburg, she and some classmates drove across the state to see a launch, which ended up being scrubbed.
