Re-scheduled for Saturday.

When it was declared a go at 3:30 p.m. Eastern time it looked like it would happen. But no, got scrubbed about 16 minutes before launch. Now they have to de-fuel it.

I had planned to watch. I turned on the TV just in time to hear the launch was scrubbed.

Now moved to Saturday at 3:22 p.m. Eastern time.

Reminds me of the glorious shuttle launch days! One time I drove all the way down to Titusville just in time to have to turn around and drive back.

We have been extremely lucky. My bff's daughter works at Kennedy Space Center. She is in Safety. We were there one time years ago over our dd's spring break. A launch was scheduled and we were able to get passes to watch from the causeway. BFF's dd had gotten the passes, they got a certain amount and she just happened to luck out and gave them to us. What an experience! We must have been there for four hours or more, but it sure didn't seem that long. We were watching dolphins and alligators out in the water.

A few years later when this same young lady got married dh and I went to the wedding in Cocoa Beach. Found out the launch had been delayed by a day so we were able to see it. This was an early morning launch (the other had been an afternoon) and we watched it from the beach close to where the wedding couple were living. Completely different experience and view, but equally amazing.

When our dd was going to college in St. Petersburg, she and some classmates drove across the state to see a launch, which ended up being scrubbed.

I had a sneaking suspicion when I saw the radar.
I'm surprised they had the guts to call it with the VIP's in the house.

I had memories of the Challenger disaster (1/28/86)...
"My God, when do you want me to launch--April?" -- NASA manager.

As I said, my bff's dd works Safety at Kennedy Space Center. Sometimes hers is the last voice heard giving the okay to launch. There is NO WAY they would let that thing go if there were any safety concerns.

I expected it to be cancelled. We live a little over two hours south of Cape Canaveral and it has done nothing but rain since the start of Memorial Day weekend. I was really hoping they'd reschedule it for a night launch because those are really neat to see. We would have driven up to see it if it was a night launch.

I think because they are connecting with the International Space Station there are all kinds of calculations and only certain times they can launch. I was talking to my bff and she said that people might wonder why they were even doing a launch right now. She didn't understand all of the ins and outs, so all she could tell me was that there was a certain window of time in which they could do it.

They need the radar to clear up and stay clear long enough to do the launch. We've been seeing a whole lot of green with quite a bit of yellow, orange and even red on our radar. This is the current satellite image.
