Can some explain bulk space banking or space banking and how to use it to grab weeks.

Space banking means that instead of owners depositing individual weeks, the resort system deposits large groups of weeks all at once, often, but not always off-season. These are often posted on the TUG Sightings board where you can take advantage of them by making an instant online exchange.

What the moderator meant to say (hopefully) is that Bulk Space banking means that instead of owners depositing individual weeks, the resort deposits large groups of weeks all at once. This artificially throws off the supply vs demand quotient that is the basis of trade power that you cannot control. You can control what and when you deposit your week unless your resort bulk banks, the better the week (less availability and more demand depending on resort and location and time) the more power you have. When a resort Bulk Space Banks they dump so much in at once that the RCI system 'sees' more supply and less demand which allows anyone with any shitty week that they have deposited (also called Space Banked as opposed to the moderator's answer) to get exchanges that they would not normally get. I've seen proof of people getting dozens of Manhattan Club exchanges with shitty blue South African weeks. This works in the first few hours/days that the Bulk Spacebank happens, so that's why Sightings of these occurrences are important.

The resorts that do Bulk Space Banking are normally resorts that have floating time. The resort will estimate how many of their owners will ultimately want to deposit with the exchange company and will go ahead and put that number of weeks into the bank. The resort will say that they are giving their owners an advantage because if, late in the year, an owner decides to deposit, the resort will give them a week that was deposited early in the year. The problem arises that they have thrown off the supply/demand quotient so who knows what that did to the week's trade power.

Ok, so the resort space banks a bunch of weeks, then I see some weeks I like on the sightings page, then I call RCI and trade points or weeks ? Is this how the sightings page works ?

Sightings can alert you to the fact that something you want was there and might still be available if you have enough points for the Point Sighting or a strong enough week for a Weeks Sighting.

If, from the sighting, you can tell that it was a Bulk banking then you may be able to pick one of those up with a weeker week.
