All,

I may end up with extra HGVC points (rescued from 2014) that will expire on December 31, 2015. I've been in this situation before with Worldmark and I could space bank or deposit the points into II -- can I do the same with HGVC and RCI?

I'm reluctant to do it because I don't see many RCI properties that I would like to trade into, but that may be my best option considering it is now August.

I know that a 2BR is 4,800 points and a 1BR is 3,400 points, but I don't know if that is only for an instant exchange, or if it applies to space banks too.

Please advise and thank you!

Best,

Greg

Two choices:
1. Deposit points into the RCI Program (for a fee) to use for a stay in 2016; or
B. Book a future RCI stay by 12/31, and the points will be drawn w/o deposit.
... (If you cancel after 12/31, you will then need to deposit or they go "poof.")

BTW, there is no "space banking," as you were never in control of your space.
The points for booking RCI are the points, regardless of when or how.

Those are the HGVC point values needed for a "red" week for an RCI exchange. I don't know what you mean by "space bank", but those point values apply to any RCI exchange.

I know RCI might not have what you want but we use it for Staycations.

We're at Carlsbad Inn right now.

All of the local resorts are in RCI and you don't usually have to take a full week.

HGVC's in Hawaii, NYC, & Marco Island in Florida are usually available in RCI. The Jockey Club in Las Vegas is fun to stay at over New Years Eve. There is also the Manhattan Club in NYC, which will require at least 10,020 RCI Points/nite.

And then you could just use the HGVC points for a short stay here in Las Vegas.

It's actually a better deal to get the NY properties through RCI than using your HGVC points at W 57th (and it's the ONLY way to get in Hilton Club).

Thank you all for the comments.

Referring to Talent's point above -- are the deposited points (I used the term space bank from Worldmark lexicon) only good for one year when deposited?

Thx again!

[A]re the deposited points only good for one year when deposited?

It helps to read the rules.
http://www.hgvclubprogram.com/content/1Rules-ENG-Rev050615.pdf

From Page 7 --
On or before December 31 of the current year, Members may deposit any remaining “rescued” ClubPoints into RCI for future weekly and nightly exchange reservations. Rescued Points deposited into RCI are valid from the date of deposit through an additional calendar year. A Rescue Fee applies.

On or before December 31 of the current year, points previously deposited with RCI scheduled to expire at the end of the current year, may be extended for one additional year for use toward weekly or nightly exchange reservations in the following year for a $99 fee.
