I have a multi-city trip, over 2 days - 10/11 tomorrow and 10/12 Saturday. Both trips are on the same confirmation number. I checked in to the 10/11 trip, but am unable to pull up the 10/12 trip.

We are flying NY to San Diego at 6 pm EST, then leaving SAN for HNL on 10/12 at 9:10 am PST. I will still be in NY at 12:10 pm EST on 10/11, which will be the check in time for the 10/12 leg.

I am afraid that, because the 10/11 trip has not left, that the system won't let me check in for the 2nd day's flight, thinking I have already checked in on that confirmation number.

Has anyone ever encountered this?

If it comes down to it, my Southwest Visa will let me upgrade to A 1-15 if available and reimburse me, but I'm looking to see if I can check in at the 24 hour mark first to see if it will be necessary.

thanks,
Jacki

If it's on the same confirmation number, I would think you get checked in automatically for the second leg at the exact time you have checked in for the first leg. That's what has happened to us in the past when we have multiple legs for one trip on Southwest. This actually works to your advantage as you are then checked in way ahead of everyone else checking in at the 24 hour mark for the second leg (and thus getting a better boarding number).

I would call Southwest. I'm surprised you aren't already checked in for the 2nd leg.

If its all 1 confirmation number you should only have to check in once at 24 hours before the first leg. But call SWA and confirm just to be sure its done properly and you don't have any issues.

I chatted with them via messenger, and was told that I can check in for the 2leg at 24 hours prior.
I will call also to confirm.

Update - I was checked in as an A lister, but we hit exactly at 24 hours, and DH got C9. He is 6'2" and does not want a middle seat. I could have grabbed an aisle and then took the middle, but wasn't thrilled about that either. I hit upgrade, then was told there were no upgrades available for this flight - UGH! So I booked him a business select fare (56,000 points) on my account (original was 14,000) points for an A11 boarding. Then, when I went to cancel his original C9 booking, there was a button to upgrade for $90. I clicked it and sure enough, he got A13. Then I canceled the business select booking, but they charged me $75 to do that since we were within 24 hours. My charge card will reimburse me for the $90, so it ended up being a $75 total upgrade cost. I can't stand Southwest sometimes!

Jackie I would call SW and see if they can do anything for you about refunding any of those fees.
