Checking various fares available from PIT to MCO, I came across ..... see below. Why would you purchase this fare for a youth ages 2 to 11 when they have internet specials available at $77.00 one way or lower. I am paying 157.10 each (round trip) now for 3 adults and 1 toddler.

Price of the youth fare is 171.00

You wouldn't. I have always paid the lowest fare for my sons. They started flying with me on Southwest when they were 7 and 11 and I have always bought them their own seat at the lowest sale fare. I buy early and buy often (like voting in Chicago), but have always found it worthwhile for them to have their own seat regardless of the airline. This revelation occurred to me after having now 18 year old on our laps from BOS to SFO via DAL in 1988 when he was 18 months old. Only time he slept was during 45-50 minute stop on ground in Dallas. From that day forward. Each person, large or small, young or old...got their own seat.
