Hello. Looking into the SCBC ( as a purchase), i notice that it is right next to the train tracks. can anyone talk about how bad (or not bad) the train noise is?

Also any other thoughts on whether it's a good pace to buy or not.

The tracks aren't bad there because that is where the trains are moving slowly or stopped.

I've stayed at Beach Club before and it is a great location.

I think all the units and weeks are fixed/fixed so make sure you know what you're buying.

I stayed in a studio right on the strand which was fun for people watching but the units have no AC and get really hot because there is flow through ventilation in the strand units.

Also, the 1BR units in the rear building have patios and a view of the front building. The 2BR units are all up top.

Get a resort map and study it and be picky, picky, picky about which unit you're getting.

jc92869, you're a local so just spend a long weekend (there's one coming up) and go drive around to all the resorts you're considering. Just go there and walk around. Act like you already own there or you're meeting friends who are staying there. Or be honest and say you want to look around because you're thinking of buying. Just look around and see for yourself firsthand what the resorts are like. If you stay an hour or so you're sure to experience a train or two.

VERY good suggestion.

I've done drive-bys of some of these, but never gone inside.

In view of your recent experience as reported in another thread, I would strongly recommend against considering a studio --- there or anywhere else...

I haven't stayed there, but have driven by it numerous times. I actually don't recommend it for someone with small children. The beach is more rowdy and dirty there than other parts of Oceanside. I've read that the beach front rooms are only studios and that they are loud all night long from people on the beach. The sound of the train would be my least concern.

Also any other thoughts on whether it's a good pace to buy or not.

From your other threads, I am assuming you have a very young child and will probably have more. Because of that, I'd recommend your home resort to be Grand pacific palisades or Carlsbad Inn. I love Seapointe, but you hear the train there and it sounds like you'd prefer a less noisy resort. Carlsbad Inn also hears the train, but it's on a city street, so the normal hustle and bustle of the street drown it out.

Palisades has everything any family could need, but it isn't on the beach. They do have a shuttle that will take you within 4 miles of the resort, but I am not sure how good the nearest beach is. It is probably the most family friendly of all the southern California GPR with lots of activities on site and nearby. The pool areas are very clean and nice.

Carlsbad Inn would be very nice for walking down to the beach and they have beach items you can check out. It's on a busy street that is full of places to eat and things to do. A nice feature about this resort is that you don't really need a car unless you want to leave downtown Carlsbad. The pool here is small and whenever I've seen it, it has kids jumping around in it. It has a really nice large lawn in the center, which can be relaxing and relatively safe for a youngster to toddle around.

If you are set on being a member of HGVC, you'd have to buy GPP, Seapointe or Marbrisa. From your other posts, I don't think you'd be much of a Marbrisa fan, but it the only genuine Hilton of the whole bunch and still allows you to access GPX.

I haven't stayed at San Clemente and that might be worth considering, but my guess is that place left a bad taste in your mouth and you might get annoyed whenever you think about staying there.

Awesome post. This is why TUG is such a great site. info like this is near to impossible to gather from any other review, or booking website.
