I would add most of the resorts on Port Royal Plantation, Shipyard Plantation and Sea Pines Plantation. I could walk to the beach under ten minutes or less.
These are some resorts at Myrtle Beach I could walk to the beach under ten (10) minutes or less. Shore Crest Vacation Villas I & II; Fairfield Seawatch & Fairfield Westwinds; Westgate Myrtle Beach; and Marriott's Oceanwatch Villas
In Hilton Head, the following resorts have on-property beach access where the resort itself fronts the beach. Not every building in each property is ocean front, but you can walk to the beach without leaving the resort grounds:
Marriott's Grande Ocean (II)
Marriott's Barony Beach Club (II)
Marriott's SurfWatch (II)
Marriott's Monarch (II and limited inventory in RCI)
Seawatch at Island Club (II and RCI)
Ocean View at Island Club/Island Club IV (II and RCI)
In the Myrtle Beach area, trading via RCI, with part of the resort directly on the beach or directly across the street (couple minutes walk):
Wyndham Ocean Blvd
Wyndham SeaWatch
Wyndham Westwinds
Wyndham Towers on the Grove
Shorecrest Villas I&II
I believe there's a Peppertree but not sure. There are also some smaller, older resorts on the beach around there, which you can see if you look at the RCI Resort Directory online, because the photos of the resorts show the ocean. All of the Myrtle Beach area coastline (the Grand Strand) is "sand and swim" beachfront.
I liked Edisto but I was there prior to swim season (Easter) and I can't say if it is swimmable. It is a very laid back anti-myrtle beach kind of a place.
Hilton Head is going to have calmer water than Myrtle beach.
