Well, my timing sucks with the hurricane passing through Florida, but I will be heading to Miami next week and it looks like there will be some rain most days. I am well located to walk everywhere (at Collins and 16th) and won't have a car. Any suggestions of places I should see? Restaurants that you love?

Thanks.

The Clevelander is a 15 minute walk to the South. Great place for people watching.

Unfortunately, unless something new has opened, there isn't much in the way of Bahamian on South Beach. (The only thing I really want from back home is Conch salad, grouper sandwiches, Cuban cuisine and Dion's fried chicken.)

There are a dozen Cuban places in your vicinity. But they're all new since last I've been there. That's what I would go for -- Cuban mix, mojo criollo and especially con leche and cheese toast in the morning. It's hard to go wrong with that. And the price is going to be attractive compared to this weeks trendy spot.

Edit -- Is there a show at the Gleason Theater? Best play I've ever seen was Hal Holbrook and Jean Stapleton in Death of a Salesman.
