Has anyone done a cruise that includes Peru and Argentina? or just one of these? and if so, which lines and would you recommend it?

Thanks

Peru and Argentina are very far apart, so it would be a pretty long cruise that hits both. There are many that go from Buenos Aires to Chile, and more that start in Rio and also visit Argentina and Chile

I like to shop on vacationstogo.com -- they list cruises by destination, so it's easy to see every South American cruise for the next year or so. Remember to look at Repositioning cruises too ... you might find one starting in Buenos Aires, going around the cape, and up to Florida.

Here is about 10 months of S. America cruises. http://vacationstogo.com/ticker.cfm?r=25&m=0&l=0&s=0&n=0&d=0&v=0&sm=0&tm=0&sp=y I don't see any that include both Peru AND Argentina. The European lines P&O, (ahem)Costa, MSC, Pulmantur, and others have more presence there than the traditional lines most Americans use. Obviously, there are exceptions. Good buys abound and there will be more, as simply after the Concordia mishap/tragedy, people are rethinking cruising. There are lots of beds to fill.

My wife and I did a 14 day cruise that started in Valparaiso , Chile and ended in Buenos Aires , Argentina. It was a Norwegian ship and the crew seemed over stressed . The food was pretty lousy compared to Carnival and Princess. However , one day we paid extra for the hibachi grill and it was excellent .

Peru is not too far north of Valparaiso , so you could fly into Lima a week before the sailing and travel the coast to meet the ship . We flew into Santiago a few days before sailing so we could visit Chile a bit. After the cruise we stayed two extra days in Buenos Aires . The food in Argentina is awesome .

The same cruise can also be run in reverse . Start in B.A and finish in Valparaiso . In Chile try the drink named " Pisco" . In Argentina , the Quilmes brewery tour was awesome . In Argentina , they speak Spanish with a totally different accent , but don't mention it because they are very sensitive .

The Buenos Aires-Valparaiso itinerary with Celebrity cruises is on my bucket list- but Peru would be a "cruisetour" add-on.

BTW, there are quite a few Celeb fans on TUG- time for a TUG cruise on our favourite cruiseline?

It'd be fun, but since it seems like the Celeb fans are a pretty well cruised bunch, it would be hard to find one that would interest enough without a 'been there -done that' contingent. 'Course we're about always up for a W.bound T/A. Why bother with a bunch of 6 hour port stops. Go for the boat ride. My $.02 worth.

If we get semi-serious about this, it should have it's own thread instead of hijacking Anitak's.
