We went to our first Bon Dance tonight. We were out of town last year and couldn't make it. The dances are for honor and remembrance for our loved ones who have passed. Attendees wrote names of loved ones who have passed on paper and they were hung on a line. The papers will be burned during a ceremony at the Mission next week.
It was held at the Soto Mission in Kaunakakai. There were dancers and musicians from Oahu to help with the festivities. They had a raffle and a Hekka dinner before the dances started. Here's some pictures.
