Our son is turning 30. He loves to roam on vacation. He is not a sit by the pool or stay all day at the beach person and lately has grown to like camping and hiking. He visited Africa and Capetown this year. He is not a skier.

We belong to II and RCI. What would one suggest for my NY city boy in or out of the US.

Thank You!

Suggest Kauai for hiking and outdoor sports.

Whistler BC

Lots to do in the summer and one of the best ski resorts in the winter.

(Use RCI to get there.)

If he's been to Africa before he's 30 I'd suggest South America,China and eastern Europe w/lostsa places to "roam" around.Once you reach a certain age, some creature comforts became a necessity.....and then he'd have to consider kid freindly places once he has a family also. There are so many places I wish I had gone in my 30's but we were so hung up on paying off our mortgage that we went only to Disney for our annual vacation. Now we have disposable income but it's not the same anymore for both the mind and body.....

Pattya Beach, Thailand!

Your making me feel guilty. My oldest daughter turns 30 on 9/6. My youngest turns 21 on 8/31. My youngest planned a big beach party for what was supposed to be both of their celebrations. My oldest is just going along with the flow, but I'm sure would rather do something much more elaborate. My oldest daughters husband is planning a surprise BBQ for her at their house, so my husband and I will go to that.

My daughter is turning 30 in Feb/09. I have offered her a timeshare anywhere she would like to go. However, all she wants to do is to go to an all inclusive resort with all her friends and party.
She is used to luxurious timeshares, but for celebrating, the all inclusives are more affordable for everyone, and more fun.

I would suggest something near Glacier National Park in Montana or the Jackson Hole area in Wyoming. Stunningly beautiful scenery, national parks, rivers, canyons, forests, lakes, hiking, cycling, whitewater rafting, lots of room to roam.

That's a very nice birthday present.

Steve

Sedona is also a fabulous place with good hiking and is reasonably close to the grand canyon.

Activity Trip

He could go to the Virgin Islands, both US and British, and island hop. There's hiking on St John, and there's plenty of water sports and eating & drinking on the others.

Another possibility would be St Maarten, and hop to St Barts and Saba. Each is very different from the others. Hiking and SCUBA on Saba, water sports, food & drink, and shopping on the others.

For either of these, he should island hop.

He could do land & sea adventures in Belize.
