I already posted in another section but thought this was worth repeating in this one for anybody with reservations in the next while.

HURRICANE HELENE UPDATE:

Longboat Key, Siesta Key and Manasota Key have experienced significant impacts from the unprecedented storm surge brought by Hurricane Helene. Officials are currently assessing the damage, and the barrier islands remain unsafe, and re-entry is not permitted at this time.

As a result, the following resorts will remain closed until we can verify that it is safe and clear for staff to return and owners/guests to occupy their units:
· Little Gull Cottages
· White Sands
· Gulf Tides
· Longboat Bay Club
· Calini Beach Club
· Siesta Sands
· Sea Oats
· Englewood Beach and Yacht Club

We will provide updates as soon as they become available.

Please stay safe and take care during this time.

Probably everything on Anna Maria Island, Bradenton Beach, Holmes Beach, etc., there are at least 4 or 5 timeshares there:

This article has a photo taken in front of the timeshare Resort Sixty Six:

We have friends who have a little house on Anna Maria Island just a block or so from the beach. They bought it about 20-25 years ago and have fixed it up nicely over the years. It is one of the older bungalows built right on a slab, not on stilts or raised in any way. They flew down after Helene to see what shape it was in and were greeted with 15" of mud and sand throughout their house! They and some friends removed all the wet furniture and other ruined things, shoveled the mud out for 3 days, then began to cut drywall. Then Milton formed. They have relatives in the greater Miami area so they drove over there on Monday. They aren't sure if they will have a house to go back to after Milton and they no longer have insurance after 3 different companies dropped them or went bankrupt over the years and they couldn't find another company who would take them. So sad!

No doubt this is sad, but the other side of the coin is that the building lot it sits on is likely now worth mega bucks (assuming the lot doesn't get 100% forever washed away). With that said, they may be able to easily sell whatever is left and likely make out very well financially.......

I remember back in 2002, being on Anna Maria Island and seeing an open house sign. It was probably 800 square feet, no garage, 40’s kitchen, asking $375.
