The hot mess of different distribution and signup channels is just really frustrating. I drove 5 hours round-trip to another state to get mine.

I feel like the distribution was over-indexed towards rural areas, as that is where it is the easiest to sign up right now (at least in the mid-Atlantic).

Here in Central Florida, I looked but could not find an appointment close to home. The closest was Debary (home) to Ocala. Then, I looked at where I work (Auburndale). Right there in Lakeland had lots! So, a week ago, I received my first jab of Pfizer at a CVS, in return they gave me a 20% off coupon and $2 ExtraBucks! I return there in a couple weeks for jab #2.

So, the best advice is to try CVS first. You may need to go on a road trip to another city to get it.

This is exactly what I did.

Walgreen's is another option that my 19YO daughter used, and she got a local one. Both of us are the J&J one.

In Oregon the map on Vaccinespotter.org. shows about 40 vaccine sites with appointment availability throughout the state, particularly in the rural areas.

However, there is only one vaccine site with appointments available within 40 miles of the populous Portland metro area, and if you try to book it there are no appointments available. The map has looked like this for at least 3 or 4 days.

Anecdotally, all five Portland area people I know who have snagged a vaccine appointment over the past 10 days have travelled either to Washington state or else 50-60 miles to the south of Portland to get it.
