Some Gen Zers seem to be bringing parents to job interviews.

  • Gen Zers are bringing their parents to job interviews, a survey of 1,428 Zoomers found.
  • Experts say this trend shows Gen Z values parental guidance, but it can hurt job prospects.
  • However, having a parent in the interview may alleviate stress and anxiety.

I heard this before, and ... Wow us Millennials thought we were bad (Though I'm an Elder Millennial) - I do think I saw something like this about some of the younger Millennials so there's some overlap. Helicopter Parenting I guess. I never thought for a moment I'd have (or want) a parent at a job interview. Before hand for prep when I was younger? Sure. Afterwards for debriefing? Sometimes. I just think you need to show you can do a job, including interview for it, by yourself - we're not hiring your parents :p

If I were interviewing a candidate, that would be a big nope for me.
Think I would tell the parent to wait in the lobby, and marks off for even thinking this was appropriate.

I did once have a Gen z employee tell me his dad told him to tell me he deserved a raise, and that i should give him one...

I told him, we are a big company and it does not work that way....

This may the be the future once they are in the hiring position. Glad I work for myself.
