One of the saddest days of the year is that first day I have to mow the lawn for the year.

For us in Arkansas, that time is now - around March 5.

What about you in your area ?
Post the first day (date) you have to mow your lawn and the area/state you are located.

We're still waiting.

P.S. We don't have a lawn and we live in Santa Fe.

So relate but this year will not have to mow as we moved into a community that does it for us.

Once owned these: FirstFairway@Walden X 2; Lawai Beach; ManhattanClub; PuebloBonitoRose; 4 South Africa--now timeshare-free
We have desert landscaping with rocks instead of grass and many lovely plants and palm trees.

Spring is bustin' out all over- here. The trees are budding. Still too early for daffodils, and the tulips are pushing up green leaves, but only 3-4 inches. We planted another 100 bulbs last Fall. Who knows how many the squirrels will leave us? There is new growth on the rose bushes the grass is still a few weeks from it's first haircut. There is still some frost danger. The next 6 weeks or so will give the allergy meds a workout.

We started mowing every other week in January. It's now weekly here in south Louisiana. Most of this is due to one week in mid-January when it was in the 70's during the day and raining every day. The trees, grass and weeds woke up and haven't gone back to sleep since.

The azaleas are in full bloom.
Last week, I mowed the weeds in the front yard.
Today, I mowed the weeds in the back yard.
Next week, I'll weed 'n' feed.

I too don’t have to Mow anymore with our move to Hawaii. We rent an apartment on Oahu and our association takes care of it on Molokai and the mowing here never ends.

So, the only thing cold is the cold, hard cash you need to live there? I hear the cost of living in NYC is nuts.

Seriously now, forget mowing in Alberta until early May. It’s actually warm here. 55 f but snow on the ground and we will get more here and there in March.

Formerly: Marriott, ILX, Westin, Diamond, Worldmark. Timeshare free as of 12/24.
We gauge spring by the rose bushes which usually bloom the end of February after being cut back the first week of January. However this year two out of three rose beds had the roses removed, the beds filled with new mulch, and then the roses replanted. Even though that was only a two day process, those beds are being sluggish and only the one bed that was left alone is blooming right now.

Yep, these photos taken on February 3 at our house. Unbelievable!

In N.H. what most consider spring can be in late May or early June. Though we have had some beautiful days in Feb and March so far- sunny and in the 50’s! The construction workers here were shirtless!

Right now our property is mud with some snow lingering. In New England this is mud season. But we do not have to take care of the postage stamp size lot we live on as it done through the HOA.

Started a couple of weeks ago in NC. All the Bradford Pears have been in bloom. Temps typically up and down. in the 50’s one days and then the high 60’s the next! Was an unusually warm winter for us. Had only one snow a couple of weeks ago that left maybe an inch. Was gone two days later.
