There definitely is a noticeable slowdown due, most probably, to the high airfares combined with the stalling economy.

I'm sure restaurants are closing in Kaanapali. The failure rate for restaurants anywhere is very high to begin with, let alone a place where the overhead is so high. Combine that with a downturn in tourism and the difficulty in finding lower paid employees on a place like Maui and you've got a recipe for failure.

WKORV, WKV, 2-SDO, 4-Kauai Beach Villas, Island Park Village (Yellowstone), Hyatt High Sierra, Dolphin's Cove (Anaheim)
A Starwood owner reported today that the WKORV has Bldg. 4 (Hwy. Bldg.) closed down because they are so slow and they may be doing some updating while it's closed. Early fall is probably the slowest season in Hawaii and with the economy and price of airfare I guess it's to be expected.
