Never did I think I would have slip on shoes other than boots. To me , owning something like slip on shoes or Velcro straps instead of laces was a thing for the old folks. A couple of days ago I bought my first pair of slip on shoes. They are Skechers and look like regular shoes. We went on a couple mile walk with the dog and the Sketchers were no different than my RockPorts regarding comfort and feel.

My son in law who is about 40ish turned me on to the Sketchers. No more shoe tying for me, lol.

Those types of shoes are great, if your foot easily fits. I have a very high arch, in combination with a very large foot. As a result, it's difficult to cram my gunboats into a conventional slip-on style shoe like the ones you mention. I've tried a number of pairs, and always had to give up on them. Glad your foot fits them.

I visited my cousin recently and her husband says "try these on" pointing to his Skechers slip ons. They were indeed convenient and pretty comfortable. I actually looked online when I got home. I would consider getting a pair for the quick trips out to the mailbox/garage/yard. But I don't think I'd wear them in public. I have Hey Dude slip ons that I really like for lounging, walking the dog and after golf. They're like $35. I have also had Olukai slip ons. They're great shoes also, but much more expensive.

I was surprised they fit. Sketchers makes an extra wide shoe that my duck paddle feet fit into.

I'm at the beginning of the slip on journey. I would like something a bit more stylish than a sneaker.

Well I had forgot that I have slipper so I guess I did have slip on's. Those look like you could wear them anywhere, even to someplace fancy. Mine are for inside the house only. Are those slippers or shoes ?

I was going to ask the brand; then I saw I could zoom in.
Did you buy online or in person?
These are Merrell's. I have bought them both in store and online. I love them. Merrell's also has another slip on version of shoe that I really like. I have them in navy, black and beige.

I think you call them "house shoes". They have a firm sole, so they can be worn outside. I use them as slippers.

I was going to comment that every time I see a Sketchers ad I have the forlorn hope that when I check online I will find a wide shoe. I’ve never found that their shoe styles offer even a single wide size for my double wide Ashtabula feet that I inherited from my dad.

At some point 12-15 years ago Cliff saw a Big 5 add for a $25 shoe with Velcro straps made by Goodyear (the tire company). Those are his go to shoes and a pair lasts four years or so. This October he was grumbling that the straps had stretched and no longer matched up with the velcro on the shoe. We’ve been here three years, so the shoes are at least four years old. Good thing we found our new Big 5 and discovered that the shoe has been discontinued but they still had stock at another store. Their customer service was excellent! Not only did they order shoes sent to their store, they called to say the shoes had come in the wrong size and were trying another store for us. Then they called to say they had received two pairs. We decided to gamble and buy both pairs of the now $30 discontinued shoes. Now Cliff’s job is to live long enough to use the second pair! We hope the credit card bill comes in soon, because the old adage “new shoes squeak until they are paid for” is demonstrated every time he walks down the hall to play cards!

I just got a pair and so far love them. I wear a size 10 (ladies) wide and it is difficult to get shoes (especially in Canada for some reason) that fit my ski feet. We were at the St. Augustine outlet mall last week and I spied a pair of wide fit Sketchers slip-ons. DH has had a pair for about a year and loves them for airplane travel, so easy on and off for security! I will be wearing them for our flight home in less than 2 weeks. I just hope they are ok in the 3 feet or so (so far) of snow that's waiting for us at home!

I have to say, I like the idea of slip ons, but do not like the Sketchers price. I got some "foam" shoes from Temu that sort of look like leather shoes. They slip on, are reasonably comfortable as long as you're not hiking or on sharp rocks / gravel (and don't step on a thumbtack). They're also completely waterproof. I think I paid around $12 for the pair.

I've been using the Skechers Extra Wide Go Walk Step-Ins for 2-3 years now. I have EEEE width feet and they work just fine. I can't actually step into them and go, but they are easy enough and stretchy enough to easily pull them over my heel. Before them, I used Propet Extra Wide walkers with velcro strap closures. They worked well, but the Skechers are easier.

These are my Spencos. My neighbor was getting rid of them 2 years ago and they were brand new!

I’ve been wearing them inside ever since, especially with my back issue. Heck, I go outside the house sometimes with them on.

I do have Sketchers wide all terrain sneakers I had bought for our trip to Italy. And I have a pair of Apria sneakers that aren’t specifically slip ons, but I can just slip them on.

Come to think of it I’ve got some other casual shoes my neighbor gave me that I can slip on too.

( neighbor is a hoarder and shopaholic)

One of the two things I will not skimp on in price and quality is shoes. I've had too many foot issues and surgeries.

I fully endorse this - especially if you've had foot issues. I'm lucky in that I haven't and very rarely have found price to equal longevity or less pain from hiking or whatever, so especially for my literal sitting around / driving shoes will just try and get the cheapest thing that doesn't actively hurt to wear.

My second best shoe recommendation was Clarks, but they have gone downhill in quality IMO (at least in the outlets that had decent prices) and for this thread, I've never seen them have slip-on shoes. On the upside, I've bought enough "can't let this price go" in both Clarks and Temu shoes that I probably may never need to buy shoes again, or at least for the next 20 or so years. I mean - due to wearing out the shoes rate from the brands in the past and given my feet otherwise stay the same as they have for the last 20 years. Of course, nothing is certain, but I'm optimistic that I'll still be getting around fine in my early 60s to hopefully use up the shoes as long as I don't find some other reason to get different kinds of shoes.

I noticed that the quality of Rock Ports has changed for the worse. I Googled this and found that Rock Port went bankrupt and was bought out by some large company and are now made in China. They were making the shoes I like in the USA and even though they still look the same they definitely don't wear the same. Rick Steves recommended the Rock Ports back when I made the switch to Rock Ports. I wonder if he's wearing Sketchers, lol.

Skechers USA, Inc. is an American footwear company headquartered in Manhattan Beach, California. Sketchers products are all manufactured in independent factories located overseas. These factories are mostly located in China and Vietnam and, sadly, there are no factories located in the USA.

These are what Sketchers slip on shoes look like.
They are like “regular” sneakers/shoes but you don’t have to untie them.

Yup. My first pair are sneakers. The next pair will be a bit more of a formal type I can wear to informal places.

A word of warning--I have lots of foot problems, and about a year ago I got Sketchers step-ins. They have a firm heel and a little ledge at the back inside so you can step straight into them and the back won't mush down.

I liked them so much that I recommended them to my best friend. She got some and loved them. But about a month later, she thought she had a stress fracture in her foot. Went to the orthopedist and he said, not a stress fracture, but a strain, and it's from the Sketchers. He said he sees it all the time bc they don't give enough support.

Meanwhile I continue to wear my Sketchers and I still really like them.
