I just wanted to post here - thanks to a Tugger who told me about skyauction - I snagged 4 nights at the Amara for 432 (including all fees, taxes etc). It's a nice option.

That's a bargain! As long as you're committed and don't anticipate any changes in your plans. It's my understanding that once you buy it, you've got it, and that's all there is. No changes or modifications are allowed. And if you have any complaints or issues with the hotel, they'll tell you to contact skyauction, or where ever you made your purchase. That's the big downside to bargain shopping like that. But otherwise, congrats on a great find.

You didn't say when those four nights are but, I completely agree: that's a great price (anytime). How about a little thank you by letting us TUGGERS know what you thought about the Amara (when you get back, of course)??

Yes, yes - I will let you all know about amara when I return.

Yes - skyauction - totally non-refundable. I have my tickets bought and paid - obviously if there's a disaster (or an unspeakable), I lose out. But that's unlikely.

That said, I did call the hotel directly to be sure I had a room with 2 beds (girlfriend weekend). They looked up my reservation and took care of it (as did Skyauction - but I liked calling the hotel and knowing they saw my reservation and it was true- such a bargain - seemed too good to be true - but it's true!)

Although this is a TS Forum, we frequently get questions about short stay or other accommodations. In this case, Amara is a (I call it) boutique hotel in Sedona. For some reason their open reservations show up rather frequently on SkyAuction. Any accommodations in Sedona can easily run $100 a night or more so, this lucky poster got a pretty darn good deal for a better than average hotel.:cheer:

Nice going! I hope you enjoy your stay! I've won auctions from skyauction, and was given certificates to turn in as payment. All the reservations were already made for me, by skyauction, for the dates I requested. I too confirmed with the resort, just to make sure, and everything was in order. And I was even sent brochures and a confirmation letter from the resort, just as if I had made the reservation myself. Depending on the place, I don't even think they know if you purchased from skyauction or not. I have heard a lot of good things about skyauction.

Also, I won an auction once, and the dates that I requested (I gave several different weeks for travel) could not be honored by the resort, so my money was refunded to me by skyauction.

Wow! What a great deal. Please do let us know how your stay is. I've heard of skyauction, but have yet to check it out. This now peaks my interest!
