Dear Folks - got a 2BR for BPT for this November, by depositing a 1 BR into II. DH and I are taking a friend, and since she and I both have had major joint replacements, we are renting a car. DH did the research (we do this often) and found a car rental place off-airport that we have NEVER heard of - SIXT. German-owned, in business since 1912 (must have rented out buggies!). Saved well over 100 buck for a week, for a small SUV. Ok - now tell me the bad part, what we missed, etc. - or anything that you KNOW about this crew. And I know that many folks do NOT get a car in Ft. Lauderdale - we must, and that is that. Yes, we are sure. Just want to know about SIXT, and why they were under our radar all these years.

I think they are fairly new to the US market. They are big in Europe and Asia. They don't have a large US presence. That is likely why they have been under the radar.

Whilst Hertz has the Marriott Rewards CDP code, in Club Son Antem in Majorca, SIXT ousted Hertz as the onsite rental company in the resort and offer a better rate than Hertz even with the CDP. In Majorca they tend to provide VWs and BMWs for less than the others who provide Seats and Fords and GM. I would also gyess that they are expanding into the US from their European home market and need to build a customer base. The T&Cs must be competetive with the market in Florida otherwise they would not make any headway in the market.

It is encouraging that after some huge rises in car hire prices in Europe in recent years there now seem to be some good competitive options.
I have stayed with Hertz for this years trip to Son Antem, but used the Etihad Guest special member offer (which does not require an associated flight), rather than the lower Marriott Rewards CDP code
"Up to 33% off Hertz Car Rental across over 100 countries"
So 3 weeks for little more than €100 per week. not at all bad

Rented from them several years ago in Ireland as they were at least $100 cheaper than their nearest competitor. We had absolutely no issues - glad to hear they have US presence!

For my five week winter trip to So. Florida (Marco Island to Palm Beach Shore) I was able to get a Ford Escape Limited the entire time for $600 from Sixt. I have a Labor Day two week trip (Crystal Shores and Ocean Pointe) coming up and Sixt will rent me a Camry for $214. I had stated in another post that Sixt does not have a polished operation (yet) but have very nice vehicles , a convenient off airport location (on the route to BPT) and as long as the price is right I would not hesitate to use them. BTW, I have a two week trip around Memorial Day also but Sunshine has Sixt beat (as of now), Camry for $269 (expecting that to go lower)!
