It seems that a lot of people are plagued with sinus problems lately around here, myself included. I saw my ENT yesterday and have started on an antibiotic that seems to be helping. He recommended another product that is available over the counter--Ponaris Nasal Emollient--and I wanted to pass it on to anyone else that might need some relief from nasal dryness and infection.

It's made of oils of pine, eucalyptus, peppermint, cajeput, and cottonseed as specially prepared iodized organic oils. It is amazing how soothing it is. Just a few drops in each nostril morning and night are really nice.

I got it at CVS here and I see that's is readily available on Amazon.com as well.

Thank you! I am going to try this immediately as these weather changes are becoming very difficult to handle.

That sounds like a great idea. I got a neti-pot last time I had sinus problems, and though it did help, the salt(?) was irritating, and the clear sinus passages were short-lived.

Just a thought, I suffered from chronic sinus infections for years. My ENT started to dig deeper and asked one day if I suffered from any heartburn. I said "yes, almost daily". Turns out that acid reflux can be severe enuff to cause the mucus to back up the throat canal into the nasal passages and the body produces excess mucus to fight the acid off, causing sinus infection symptoms. 5 years ago I started a daily prescribed dose (30 mg) of prevacid and have rarely had any sinus trouble ever since. Just food for thought, especially if you also have any trouble with heartburn.

Thanks! I'm going to get that for my DH. He uses a CPAP and his poor nose gets really dry.

I finally got a drug from an ENT that really seemed to help, Sta-hist. When I went to refill the script the first time, it was on indefinite backorder. I was so sad.

The doctor tried another drug that isn't working nearly as well. Back to square one.

Sheila

P.S. Interesting note after I read the rest of the thread, the new drug is also prescribed, according to the pharmacist, for stomach pain. I took Prilosec for so many years that it concerned me and have been trying to wean myself. My GP suggested every other day dosages of Prilosec if nothing else worked. I was afraid to take the Prilosec at all with this new drug. Maybe that's why I'm seeing no improvement in my sinus problems.

Thank you for sharing. Since September I have been on antibiotics six times. Just went to the ENT who gave me the sixth round along with two nasal sprays-omnaris and pana...I am going to purchase this Ponaris that you recommended.

Thanks

it is comforting to see I am not alone with chronic sinus problems, it is so miserable.
