Since I don't get in the water much, it sounds more interesting to me. I'd love to be able to get up into the air (helicopter maybe) and get a look at that sight.

It occurs pretty much every year, (at least 3 of the past 4. years that we've owned there). Since the beach erosion that occurred a few years ago, the sharks will chase bait-fish pretty close to shore.
The rule of common sense has to apply here...don't go in the water when they're migrating. You rarely see one or two, they are in pretty large schools and a lot of helicopter activity is a good tip off.
There were a couple of pretty severe bites about two years ago, but they were well north of Singer Island.
I've never let them ruin my stay...and enjoy seeing something we don't get to see all that often.
For the short period that it happens...I'll stay out the ocean as long as they'll stay out of our pools.

My own rule keeps me safe during this migratory period - don't go in the water when it's 62 degrees.

Similar but different .... watching sun set at Carlsbad CA. two days ago ... could not believe that Dolphins would/could come that close to shore - really neat. There were quite a few all scattered up & down the coastline

Oh yeh - Ralphs food store on Poinsettia - had a 'herd' of Mallard ducks - just hanging out. Been there for a while.

Ok - Florida wins - I saw no sharks ... :)

There are always Dolphins near shore - and Sharks - the point here is the Sharks - they live here - you don't, and they are ALWAYS here.
