We usually go through Nashville, Atlanta, and down 75. Would like to try something else this time, take an extra day and do some sightseeing. We have done Nashville and Chattanooga. Any suggestions in Mississippi or Alabama? Thinking of taking I57 to the end and then down. Open to suggestions.

Location
Siesta Key, FL and Grandville, MI
We just did the trip south this past weekend (Michigan to Siesta Key). In Indianapolis, there were flashing signs in many locations saying "Major delays on I 65 near Louisville" "Alternate route advised" We took I 70 (I think) out of Indianapolis to Cincinnati and then down I75. There was a traffic mess around Knoxville, and that route took us a couple extra hours. So, we don't know what is going on around Louisville, but be advised of the warning. :(

we have avoided that route for a couple of years now. the year of the nashville flood, we drove through Nashville that morning and a truck driver warned us to go as far west as possible before going north. we discovered route 57, which lets us off a mile from my mother's home, is longer, but hardly any traffic or stress . so we take that to Nashville now. but we do hate the drive. We always travedled with pets and had to get there in as short a time as possible, but sadly they are no longer with us.
